They were great. Dave and I could see down to the city dump (where they were lighting the fireworks off) from Mom’s front gate. We had a real good view and they were great. It cools off pretty good there, so it was nice to sit out front in the night air.
One really funny part: buzzards and large crows live at the dump, you can see them all the time, and right at the beginning when the first fireworks went off, all these big dark shapes came winging out past our heads from the dump area. They were hauling! They were close enough to hear the air through their wings, and they went fast.
Another funny part was when one of the tables of fireworks (where they set them up in sets) tipped over and we could see the sparks and colors whizzing over against the ground. I hope nobody got hurt, but I bet they were scrambling.
We took Mom out to the ChuChu Club (American Social Club since 1974) and had a burrito and a beer. It was the special. We had been planning to go to the VFW later for ribs, but were too tired to go out in the evening. Besides, I wanted a drink by then and did not want to drive across town in any condition except sober.
We spent the next day measuring and working around our new place. That is going to be a lot of work, but we need fat burners, so looks like we are in for some extra exercise with our ‘hobby’ house. Pictures later, we’ll have the ‘before’ and ‘after’.
