a friend of ours is in either Iraq or Afghanistan and has been for some time. She might come home in January. She sent an email that I want to share with you.
This is Carol, Tony’s wife. How the heck are you? I’m sure that you have not received my “thank you” card. It doesn’t take long on our end to receive mail but sending mail to the US takes some time. I want to tell you “thank you” for the great care package. I ate up what I could and shared with the team. Seems I have been very blessed with the most generous friends. Our team has been snacking like queens and kings, LOL.
So how is life in Ajo? I checked out your blog. It’s way nicer than mine. I will have to add some photographs to my blog to spruce it up. Well, currently all blogs are blocked and I am surprised that I could actually open up your blog. Nice.
Still have all your doggies?
Well, my deployment is coming to an end, I have less than 90 days left on my contract. I am so ready to go home. I miss Tony, my daughters and all my friends. My first meal upon arrival will be pizza from Spinatos or Mellow Mushroom. I miss real pizza, mexican food, hamburgers, oh real food!
Just a short note to say Hi and Thank you!
Sincerely,
Carol
My advice to you, the reader, is to keep sending packages over and to count your blessing for living in this free country.

My son’s birthday party was yesterday. I bought all-natural, grass-fed beef steaks (very expensive and tasty!), we had corn on the cob, baked potatoes, guacamole and chips, and two cakes.
My son’s neighbor, Chris, came, too, and he brought home-made chocolate covered strawberries. we had so much food that I forgot to set them out at dessert time!
We talked about a lot of interesting things, even rop life insurance, which some elderly people use for a little extra (and very needed) income.
I don’t know why I didn’t take any pictures. Why? So there’s no evidence.

It was a real joy to have such a large number of my small family gathered around me this holiday. We all had a real good time. And ate too much. Now we all need to get ahold of some Fentraphen and lose some of the weight. We had lots of huge and fun dinners.
One night we had a giant amount of pork roast that I found on sale at Food City. I got to use a big roasting pan that I haven’t used in years.
And for Christmas Day, we had a twelve-pound ham. I am surprised that it’s all gone now, except the juice and bone. We’re saving that for New Year’s black-eyed peas and cornbread. Dear Heart’s specialty.
The house is all quiet now, everybody went on their way. My niece and DH, J and D and family are on their way to Heart of The Old West.
I got a new camera.
It’s a Canon Power Shot. WOW !

Today was a pip!
School went really well. My assignments were all done and I was up to speed in Spanish class. Then when I got home I had a message from the mammogram folks, they want to look at the right breast again. So I go in Tuesday afternoon. They are going to do an ultrasound. I guess it’s more thorough. Hank the Cow Dog stepped on my right breast the other day while we were wrestling on the bed. IT HURT!!! But it should be okay by Tuesday. Good enough to smash it again if that’s what they want to do. I don’t think ultrasounds squeeze like mammograms do, but I don’t know.
Guess I could google it.
I been looking at female supplements lately, too. ephedra pills is a big thing on the web up in those sites, I thought they used ephedra substitutes these days, but it looks available.
Then my niece was down in Mesa and somehow the voice mail didn’t have her message on from yesterday (we had a power hiccup, because all the clocks were blinking). So I didn’t know where she was until today and they are leaving , probably already gone by now. No way for me to go see them and I guess they couldn’t take the time to drive by my house on their way out of town. Though you know they had to pass within a mile of my house. … I just cried. After i hung up of course. What a weird day.

Jeff brought Lur (his name is now Boyd) over for the weekend. I told him to just take his time returning. He laughed.
Lur knew right where he was, slammed out of the car and into the house. Had the submissive wee-wees for the first half hour or so, then settled right in.
He doesn’t know what to think of the new fountain. Everyone else dashes right in after the ball, and I think he will soon.
He’s such a love. He was hungry, and his nails are too long, but he really looks great and his attitude is real fine. Jeff’s doing a good job.
I might send care packages of frozen meals home with him, though. You know bachelors, never anything to eat in the house.
Boyd was happy to tear into some frozen eggs, I’m spoiling him, though. Between the chicken bites and all the eggs, he actually just ate the yolks out of the eggs once he got them open. I’ll just smash the egg whites into their dinner tonite.
