It’s getting hot in Phoenix. We miss the outdoors when it gets too hot, so we’ve been having breakfast under the lanai, just to get a little use out of the yard and the shade.
Once we get the 5th wheel, and he retires, we can go up north to get out of the heat and sell hoagies with our neighbor. We’ll have to shop for a receipt printer, but she has most of everything else we might need. It sounds like a lot of fun from what she says, and profitable, too.
Can’t wait.

DearHeart is putting in a fold-away ladder to the attic so we can store the Xmas boxes and books up there. While this will give us needed space, I get nervous when he does things while standing on a ladder.
He’s covered this month, but with retirement next month, we will be sure to get an insurance quote before he climbs a ladder again.
He just makes me nervous.

or should I say Underland, which is what the residents called it.
My kids took me to see it today and now I want EVERY outfit Alice had. Helena Bonham Carter didn’t look old enough to need
wrinkle cream, but I know she is. I want to see her Pantaloonies line of clothing now, to see if that’s her vision.
I had heard that Johnny Depp was not as mad a Hatter as expected, and I know he researched mercury poisoning to get the kind of poisoning the Hatter would have had, but I thought it was just fine. A little more madness would have been welcome, but I think it was good that he steered away from the other kinds of madness he’s been portraying til now.
I liked it.

Today I am sorting out the books that I picked up at the auction. There always seem to be books in whatever household boxes I buy. I always wait and get the boxes of crap that go down to $2.00 or so. Then I post on an internet auction site (one or the other) and post the pic on a blog, tell the shoppers that there are more pics if they click here and Bob’s your Uncle!! (or something like that.)
So I am down to the bottom of the boxes that I bought two weeks ago for $10.00 and made $80.00 on so far. There will be a Goodwill box because I don’t intend to yard sale this summer unless I do one in Ajo, maybe, but it’s SO HOT!!! (Now I’m just whining)
Got some good books to keep, though, and some to donate, and a couple to list at my swapping site.

Another ball over the fence. And not on the friendly neighbor’s side. We only have one snarly neighbor, out of five possible shared fence corners, and the ball of course went over the WRONG fence. I am constantly looking for used balls, not used golf balls, but used tennis balls.
What happens is that Annie jumps for it and bounces it off her nose, like she was playing volley ball or something. Boy does that ball ever get lift; the ball is coming down and she is going up and SMACK !! pop goes the ball.
Well, we can buy more, and she was lucky this time that it was not the last ball in the house.

I have never seen anything like this footed dish with a beautiful pheasant (or some other kind of bird) in deep relief on the bottom.

Now that we are in Ajo a lot more, I am meeting more people. Some are as brilliant as
diamonds, like the young couple whose wedding reception I went to last month.
She is teaching a G.E.D. program and he is teaching high school on the Res. And he is starting a solar business in Ajo. Ajo is the perfect place for solar and it’s great to know there is an expert on hand for when I set up the solar dog food factory in my back yard.

Dogs in a Ford Pick-up
Happy Hounds is going to get a chance this summer.
We had a great visit in Ajo, Dave got a lot done on the swamp cooler. The temperature was in the mid eighties, we walked to lunch and almost got goosebumps walking up the hill to home.

I found a box of boxes the other day, and in it was a beautiful little hand-painted Hopi box signed by Rosaline Coin.
![IMG_2378[1]](http://stewartcreations.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/IMG_23781-300x225.jpg)
rosaline coin
It’s about 4 inches by 3 inches. I have no idea how it got in the box of boxes. Since I’m a starving student, I think I will have to sell it.
I looked her name up and found out that Rosaline Coin is related to the Village of Shungopavi, and subject to Hopi law. But nothing else.
Maybe if I auction it she herself will see it and remember how lovely it is. She might even buy it.

Norm called today and we had a nice long talk. Where he’s living is an assisted-living place on McDowell. I’ll have to go see him one of these days.
It’s pretty sad, I had thought he found a cure for his “drifty-ness” in one of those medical tests. But no, he is still just as “drifty”, he just remembers even less.
I’ll print off one of his posters and take it to him.
I just finished my last project today, all I have left to do this week is put together and show the 501(c)(3) thing for Honors(Thursday), and our baby’s graduation from ASU. I have to say, we are all so proud of her, she majored in math, of all things. Now if she will only continue while she still remembers that stuff.
I understand how she could be tired of school, I’ve been going three years and I’m tired.

We sat around the dogs’ kiddie pool last night in Ajo with our neighbor. It wasn’t all about losing abdominal fat as much as cooling our heels. I had to laugh when our neighbor came over, talking, carrying her wine, and talking, like I said. She talks a mile a minute when we get together, we like it. But she looked at us a little funny when we pulled over a chair in front of the pool, she sat down (talking), slipped off her flip flops (talking), and slipped her feet in the cool water … complete silence for a few seconds while she luxuriated in the cool sensations.
It was really refreshing. We were a little worried because we don’t have the swamp cooler for that house yet, but it cools off nicely out in the desert like that. We had a big fan stuck in the bedroom window bringing in all that cool evening air all night and we were just fine.
We spent a real nice night in Ajo without the swamp cooler.

Today I am researching the roles of women and men in India (not mentioning caste). Caste makes a HUGE difference in how people (especially women) are treated in India, but this is a warm fuzzy piece.
It’s funny, the Indian people all seem to say that westerners totally misunderstand caste and that it is a good thing, really, it helps sort the population for the betterment of all. Of course, the ones saying this are all upper caste.
Even the best vitamins in the world can’t fix discrimination, no matter what you call it.

Just one presentation and three more tests (one of them a take-home) and the term should be all over by this time next week.
WHEE.
I’m already trying to book projects. I will have to try to make some $$$ somehow, but I have a couple of ideas about that.
I need to learn online marketing, so I will try to sell my crafts on etsy.com and my son is still going to auctions and selling on ebay, so I might try my hand at that.
Selling stuff online will be good experience for when I do community development. I want to try my hand at organic gardening in Ajo at the community garden. I would like to grow and market Heritage tomatoes and beans, maybe squash… whatever will grow there in the desert. Heritage is very market-able. I can almost see the packaging already. What fun that would be.
Well, I guess I should quit this and do some more homework, school isn’t out just yet.
