Reality Show Material

I swear that my job should be a reality TV show- there’s lots of drama- the guy I work for is a total drama queen (not in the homosexual sense)… there’s the struggle to get a dealers license, there’s the drama and suspense of buying and selling cars, and the negotiations and dealings with mechanics, car wash people, etc..

The wild thing about the people that I work for is that they have lots of money, but they live from check to check at the same time.. well, except that they don’t get paid unless they sell a car… but, one day, they’ll be sitting on thousands of dollars, and the next, they’ll be flat broke, but they’ll have lots of cars to sell.

So far this job is an adventure, a learning experience, and hard work.

200 Mph Steam Car

This batmobile-esque beast is a steam powered monster capable of 200 mph. Thanks to the British Steamcar Challenge, we can feast our eyes on engineering marvels like this.

Tools!

I was shopping at Target the other day, and they had a small set of ratcheting wrenches for ten bucks! A sweet deal. I couldn’t find them at the Target website, but they were in store, available in standard and metric. Not too sure about the quality at that price, but the price is good. The wrenches were kind of like the picture here, but both sides were closed and ratcheting. If that’s your kinda thing, you may want to go down to the tool area of your local Target to see if they have anything like this.

Hurry Up… And Wait!

Working for a car dealership has been really odd for me. I sometimes get 3-4 days off in a row, only to be hit with a tidal wave of 11-12 hour days when work comes in. We sold a Daewoo today…woo hoo. We took way less for it than we wanted, but the car wasn’t selling fast enough, and that’s how it goes. The car sold for about 2/3 of the original asking price. Well, I gotta go- today was one of those 12 hour days, and I’ve got food cooking on the stove.

Thermite Vs Car

The boys over at Top Gear are having a little fun with a french car. And what better way to do that than to melt the engine? these guys are pretty wild- I’ve seen them destroy many a car, and enjoyed every minute of it!

Dealership

I think I forgot to mention that I work for a teensy car dealership. They’re really small… how small? Well, it’s a husband and wife run operation, and I’m their only employee. They have maybe four cars for sale at any given time. Today’s duties included driving a car to the mechanic and helping put together the dash/interior of another car. It’s really not bad work.

Mini Cooper D= 72 MPG!

The latest version of the hybrid Mini Cooper sports an array of energy-saving features. It uses brakes to charge the battery, it cuts the engine off when you sit at intersections, and it suggests the most efficient gear to drive in.

Mini is pushing the envelope when it comes to clean and efficient transportation, cutting CO2 emissions by 14% last year. An incredible feat when compared to the industry average of .03%.
